Youtube History, Success and Business

Youtube was a video-sharing platform, launched in 2005 by three former PayPal employees: Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim. The site became very popular in 2006 when the founders announced YouTube would be free to use, and that it would not host advertisements.

The world's largest video sharing platform, Youtube is the second-most visited website in the world. On February 14, 2017, Youtube became the most-visited website globally.

YouTube was created for the purpose of making it more convenient to store and share videos on the internet. The site has evolved considerably, adding several new features while continuing to look for new ways of increasing user engagement.

User Growth

When launched back in 2005, YouTube’s total unique audience numbers were 300. Today, that number clocks in at more than 1 billion viewers across the globe. That is an audience size that even some of the most popular TV channels on Earth can only dream about; it’s no wonder that brands are pursuing YouTube advertising aggressively. According to April 2018 research data from Nielsen Showing measurable ROI? A global study among agencies and marketers found that 73% of agencies say YouTube ads provide good or excellent ROI (Return On Investment).YOUTUBE VIDEOS.

YouTubers make a living off of what they create. They get paid to create content which they upload to the platform and then can earn money off of the views that are generated.  They could use this money to make a living off of what they create, or they could choose to use the money to fund their own ideas and projects.  There is no shortage of ideas that could be made into videos, and with the popularity and growth of the platform, more and more people are coming into the platform and becoming content creators.

Youtube Reported Viewer History

By 2013, YouTube was reported to have almost a billion users, up from 100 million in 2009. By 2016, it had more than a billion monthly active users, and more than 1.4 billion views a day. In December 2013, YouTube had approximately 1.5 billion unique users each month, according to ComScore. In 2017, ComScore reported that YouTube had 851.9 million unique viewers and 1.45 billion video views per day.

Youtube's Effect on Marketing Strategies

Youtube has saturated the market with its marketing campaigns and is not going anywhere anytime soon. It helps companies effectively promote their products and services to a targeted audience. Strategists have changed their strategies as a result of having to contend with this emerging channel. For instance, marketers are now focusing on creating more engaging and richer content that can be uploaded to Youtube through marketing or advertising budgets.

The Effect of Youtube on Business Models & Product Sales

The emergence of Youtube has affected product sales and it has caused a shift in the way business models are evolving. Youtube now offers an alternative to the physical and online retail concept, also known as the "showrooming" phenomenon. According to Youtube research, 70% of people prefer to see and touch the products they are purchasing before buying them while 30% look for prices online and in a physical store. This is one proof that there is a rise in the popularity of physical stores as people prefer to shop in physical stores. Therefore, Youtube, as the largest video-sharing platform, is having an effect on the market, changing the way people shop.

Google Bought Youtube

In 2010, Google bought YouTube for $1.65 billion and the site was integrated with the Google Plus social network. In 2015, they launched Google Preferred, a plan of sorts in which any brand that signs on with YouTube would be given money in return for reaching a certain number of users.

In 2012, Youtube reported a $5 billion loss. This caused it to lay off hundreds of employees. In 2016, the company posted a net profit of $1.4 billion.

As of 2018, the creator of a YouTube video is paid by YouTube on the basis of three forms of compensation: money (royalties), advertising network support (AdSense), and content partner support (AdSense). The compensation depends on the popularity of the video. The more popular the video is, the more money the creator is paid.

youtube is a business that has been around for a long time and it continues to grow and evolve. It takes time to get to the top and make money. With the growth of the company and the platform, many companies start to use Youtube to advertise to their target audience.

The New Era of Social Media Marketing

Marketing is a competitive arena and one has to adapt to the changes in order to be successful. Companies that are not effective at adapting to the changing market conditions are in danger of being left behind by their competitors. Therefore, the key to success in the new era of marketing is to effectively use social media platforms such as Youtube.

Social media marketing has become an effective and popular method of marketing for businesses and brands. The platform offers a great opportunity to target customers and market directly to them.
