Dolph was born in Miami, Florida to a Rastafarian father and a Dominican mother. At the age of three, his family moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where he and his brother got their first exposure to the arts by learning to play piano at a very young age. The brothers eventually moved to North Philadelphia, where they attended high school and got their first exposure to rapping by participating in rap battles with classmates. This exposure would ultimately lead to them forming the rap group ‘The Square Roots’.

From the age of 13, Dolph began studying art and music, eventually joining a band, The Art of Noise.
